Welcome to: The Heart of Cape Town

About HOCT
Who We Are
The Heart of Cape Town (HOCT) is a Movement for Change, founded by Uthando (Love) South Africa in December 2023. Our Purpose is to shift consciousness of people towards humanity. It is to change the way that people think about their personal environment, which consists of: people, planet, & profit, and it is often the case that people focus significantly more on their profit and the planet, while overlooking the needs of people around them. Our Movement was born from the recognition of the ongoing global crisis— fascism, causing division, injustice and inequality, which took us back to post 1994 when South Africans suffered at the hands of fascism, causing division, injustice and inquality in the wake.
What We Do
At the Heart of Cape Town, we run campaigns, events, and businesses sparking a Revolution of the Heart, telling people to i.e. “Live Through Your Heart”, and show Love & Support to communities that are struggling socially and economically, while bringing humanity together to spread Peace, Love, Unity, Joy, Kindness, Inclusivity, and Respect between diverse groups of people.
Our Purpose
At the Heart of Cape Town, we understand that there is a huge need for socio-economic upliftment in South Africa, as 56.8% of South Africans live in a state of poverty, as of the start of 2025. Our mission is to reduce poverty in South Africa to a near zero amount. This will take time, but with the intent to shift our current reality, nothing is impossible.
Additionally, the World, including South Africa is suffering from the effects of current and past fascist regimes, dividing people based on their religion, race, culture, gender, and sexual orientation, and this has caused widespread hatred, violence, social inequality, legal and institutional injustice, and dehumanisation towards people. At the Heart of Cape Town, we aim to bring people from diverse backgrounds together, to show each other that we are more alike than we are different in terms of our psychological, cultural, and personal orientations. Our aim is to generate Peace, Love, Unity, Joy, Kindness, Inclusivity, and Respect amongst people, so that we can live in harmony instead of being divided, and disassociated from one another.
Our Campaigns
Lovenaire Campaign
Problem Statement: High poverty rate in South Africa. As of April 2025, 56.8% of South Africans live in a state of poverty.
Mission Statement: The Lovenaire Campaign advocates for a Revolution of The Heart, encouraging people to become “Lovenaires” i.e. Social Change Makers taking action by fostering the development of socially and economically struggling communities via, financial and/or promotional aid.
Vision Statement: To reduce poverty to a near zero amount, through growing support from the global community, for impactful community development projects uplifting in need South Africans.
Heart Campaign
Problem Statement: Discrimination within a cultural, racial, religious, gender, and sexual context has led to: hatred, violence, social inequality, legal and institutional injustice, and dehumanisation towards people.
Mission Statement: At the Heart of Cape Town, we understand that discrimination derives from misinformation, a lack of interaction with the communities being discriminated against, and sometimes ignorance, and this is why our Heart Campaign Activations bring diverse groups of people together, for celebrations of Joy, Inclusivity, and Respect, highlighting artistic and entertaining performances from diverse groups of people, showing people that we are more alike than we are different, and by showcasing stories, and artistic expressions from diverse groups of people, we help to educate others on the values of these people, while shifting any misleading narratives which have caused discrimination towards such people.
Vision Statement: The vision of the Heart Campaign is to eliminate all forms of discrimination, hatred, violence, inequality, injustice, and dehumanisation towards people who are different to us in terms of their racial, religious, gender, and sexual orientations, creating a world where every person can prosper in an equal society bound by the principals of Peace, Love, Unity, Joy, Kindness, & Inclusivity

James Fernie. Founder Uthando SA
Uthando means Love, and if there was ever a time in the world to propagate a message of peace, compassion and love, that time is right now.
Let’s pay attention to the magic that surrounds us.

We all feel what other people are going through whether we are conscious of it or not.
At a deep level we are all affected by the horrifying and unimaginable tragedy of war, violence and division.
At a distance it appears there is not much that each of us can do, but in truth each and everyone of us can act as a “Lighthouse of Love, Kindness and Peace”.
This state of being comes from our HEARTS. We are all one. We are all Brothers and Sisters.
With all of our differences, arguments, disagreements and battles we have forgotten that we are all one life together.

The Heart of Cape Town, an initiative led by Uthando (Love) South Africa, passionately champions a profound message of Peace, Kindness and Love worldwide, whilst illuminating the truly inspiring and innovative work of South African community development projects and activists.
I am writing to you in support of and endorsement for the Heart of Cape Town and The Heart of Cape Town Peace Center. I am currently in discussions with James Fernie, the founder of the Center, regarding promoting the messages of kindness, compassion, peace and love and in bringing this shared vision to the United States. We live in a world fraught with war, tragedy violence and division. The Heart Campaign can act as a significant catalyst for that change.
